Police Arrest Koreans Smuggling Drugs via US Forces in Korea
Korean nationals and U.S. military personnel stationed in Korea were caught by the police for bringing drugs into the country through military mail and distributing and using them.
The Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi recently arrested two individuals, including a Korean woman in her 20s, Ms. A, and a Filipino woman, Ms. B, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Ms. A is accused of bringing synthetic marijuana into the country through military mail via her boyfriend, Mr. C, a U.S. soldier stationed at Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, using it, and distributing it together with Ms. B.
Mr. C was transferred to the United States before the investigation, and another U.S. soldier who led the importation of synthetic marijuana has already been caught by the police on similar charges and is reportedly detained in a facility within the U.S. military base. It is known that up to 20 U.S. military personnel stationed in Korea were involved in the crime.
