Ulsan Office of Education Operates Customized Gifted Education for Underprivileged Groups
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is providing customized gifted education to underprivileged gifted students during the summer vacation.
153 underprivileged gifted students from the Ulsan area (84 elementary, 69 middle school students) are participating in the gifted nurturing project "SW (Software)·AI (Artificial Intelligence) Creative Convergence Camp," hosted by the KAIST Science Gifted Education Center and operated by the Busan National University Institute for Educational Development.
The gifted nurturing project is a customized gifted education program for underprivileged gifted students in elementary, middle, and high school.
This camp will be held over one night and two days at the Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center in Busan. The camp for middle and high school students will take place on the 3rd and 4th, and the camp for elementary students on the 7th and 8th. A total of 233 underprivileged gifted students from the Gyeongsang region, including Busan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk, will also participate.
The event aims to stimulate interest and enthusiasm by providing experiences and education related to software and artificial intelligence in line with the national agenda of "Training One Million Digital Talents."
The camp consists of a hands-on program focused on case studies where participants can establish strategies suitable for problem-solving and design and implement algorithms. Students from the Busan National University coding education volunteer club "Code Coach" will serve as mentors and provide career mentoring.
Professor Kim Jeongseop, head of the Busan National University Institute for Educational Development and a professor in the Department of Education, said, "We will do our best to help students participating in the gifted nurturing project grow into creative and convergent talents equipped with creative thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills."
