Gwangju Buk-gu Strengthens Regional Competitiveness by Utilizing 'Hometown Love Fund'
Proposal Submission Open Until the 21st
On the 2nd, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced that it will conduct a 'Hometown Love Fund Proposal Project Contest.'
This proposal project contest was promoted to utilize the Hometown Love Fund meaningfully and enhance regional competitiveness.
It also aims to gather residents' opinions on improving residents' welfare and inheriting and developing local resources to foster social consensus and promote patriotism.
The proposal projects are divided into five categories: ▲Protection of vulnerable groups ▲Youth development ▲Promotion of culture and arts ▲Revitalization of local communities ▲Improvement of residents' welfare, and any South Korean citizen can apply.
In particular, from the perspective of activating local resources, ideas linking the top six representative tangible and intangible resources of Buk-gu?based on a preference survey previously conducted by Buk-gu?such as ▲5·18, ▲Gwangju Biennale, ▲Mudeungsan, ▲Baseball, ▲Malbau Market, and ▲Jeon-dae Back Gate University Street, will receive additional points during evaluation.
Buk-gu plans to receive proposals separately for short-term projects that can be implemented immediately next year and mid- to long-term projects, reflecting the proposals more systematically in district administration.
After preliminary and final evaluations, the results will be announced next month. One grand prize winner (worth 300,000 KRW), two excellence award winners (each worth 200,000 KRW), and three encouragement award winners (each worth 100,000 KRW) will receive certificates and prizes (Onnuri gift certificates).
The contest period is until the 21st of this month. Residents wishing to participate can fill out the application form posted on the Buk-gu Office website and submit it by visiting the Tax Division 1, or via email or mail. For more details, please contact the Tax Division 1 of Buk-gu Office.

Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, “We thank the hometown love donors, including BTS J-Hope and beauty creator Lee Sa-bae, for their interest and support shown to Buk-gu so far,” and added, “Since the Hometown Love Fund is formed by precious donations from all walks of life, we will do our best to actively reflect residents' opinions so that the fund can be used meaningfully.”
