Innocean focused on washing machines in this campaign. Ninety percent of the electricity used by washing machines is consumed to heat water, and the default setting temperature for drum washing machines is generally 40 degrees Celsius. Innocean explained that lowering the washing temperature by just 10 degrees to 30 degrees Celsius can save more than 30% of carbon emissions and electricity costs, while having little impact on washing effectiveness.
To promote this, Innocean distributed free samples of Saenghwal Gongjakso’s laundry detergent at the Boryeong Mud Festival. Participants were encouraged to directly wash clothes soiled with mud at 30 degrees Celsius, allowing them to experience the benefits of 30-degree washing firsthand.
