A 16-year-long wish of Oryu 1-dong residents... Reborn as a mixed-use building with 6 basement floors and 26 above-ground floors
The Oryu Market redevelopment project in Oryu-dong, Guro-gu is expected to gain momentum.
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 2nd that on July 13, the Seoul City Market Redevelopment Project Review Committee approved the revised plan for the Oryu Market redevelopment project.
As a result, Oryu Market will be reborn as a mixed-use building combining residential units, retail facilities, and neighborhood living facilities, with 6 basement floors, 26 above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 40,934 square meters.
Located in the area of 38-7 Oryu-dong, Guro-gu, Oryu Market has long faced resident demands for redevelopment due to insufficient parking and convenience facilities and the aging of its facilities for over 55 years.
In particular, redevelopment efforts have been attempted three times since 2007, but faced difficulties due to resident conflicts, leaving the project as a long-standing wish of Oryu 1-dong residents for the past 16 years.
The revised plan approved this time was supplemented and passed after being deferred at the Seoul City review in February, with improvements made to parts of the architectural plan, road plan, and public open space plan.
The district plans to promptly negotiate with Seoul City on the required supplements this month, finalize the plan after resident review and briefing sessions.
Once the plan is finalized, it will be officially announced in the Seoul City Gazette, and the formal process of establishing the association will begin in earnest.
