Department of Architecture at Dongmyeong University Conducts 'High School Summer School Course' Experiential Learning
The Department of Architecture at Dongmyung University was selected for the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education's '2023 Diverse Campus and High School Summer School Courses' and conducted experiential learning under the theme 'I am a Future Architect.'
The event was held over five days from the 24th to the 28th, totaling 19 hours, for 20 first- and second-year high school students at locations including the Dongmyung University Architecture Design Hall, ING Architecture Office, Kiswire Memorial Hall (Koryo Steel), and Minrak The Market.
During the event, to explore career paths related to architectural and urban spatial design, participants engaged in BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based design practice linked between high schools, universities, and industries by directly communicating with industry and university professionals.
The participating high school students, together with Dongmyung University professors, architecture students, and industry architects, learned the characteristics of architectural design and practiced 3D design and architectural model making using basic BIM tools, thereby acquiring the profession and mindset of architects.
They also toured architectural offices and explored exemplary completed buildings, experiencing the process of completing designs into models through hands-on practice.
Dongmyung University architecture students Park Kyung-dong, Park Won-jun, and Kim Do-young served as assistant instructors supporting the high school students.
