Gokseong-gun Launches Happy Safety Meal Program for Elderly Living Alone and Low-Income Seniors

Gokseong Volunteer Center Participates in Autonomous Crime Prevention Gokseong Federation

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) held a launch ceremony for the Happy Safety Meal Delivery for elderly living alone and low-income seniors at the Gokseong Leisure Culture Center at 1 PM on the 28th.

At the launch ceremony, members of the Gokseong Volunteer Center, the Gokseong-gun Federation of Autonomous Crime Prevention Units, and the Gokseong-gun Saemaeul Association participated together.

The Gokseong Volunteer Center has been supporting side dishes once a month to elderly living alone and low-income seniors through the Senior Happiness Meal program since 2009.

As this project has had a great effect on increasing the happiness of the seniors, it was decided to increase the support frequency from once a month to twice a month this time.

Additionally, the newly participating Gokseong-gun Saemaeul Association will prepare the side dishes, and the Gokseong-gun Federation of Autonomous Crime Prevention Units will be responsible for delivery.

Furthermore, the agricultural corporation ‘Okgwa Delicious Kimchi’ donated 20kg of kimchi, enabling the provision of even more abundant side dishes.

An elderly recipient of the Happy Safety Meal delivery said, “It was a big concern to manage meals every time in a difficult environment where I could not prepare food by myself. I am truly grateful that such delicious side dishes are personally delivered to my home.”

Representatives of the Gokseong-gun Saemaeul Association and the Gokseong-gun Federation of Autonomous Crime Prevention Units said, “We plan to continuously participate in the project so that seniors can maintain a healthy life through happy meals by preparing and delivering side dishes.”
