On the 31st, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the ‘93rd Memorial Ceremony for Jang Jin-hong’ in front of the statue of Jang Jin-hong inside Dongnak Park, organized by the Gwangbokhoe Gumi Branch.

Jang Jin-hong, born in 1895 in Okgyedong, Gumi City, was a prominent local independence activist. His representative act of resistance was the 1927 bomb incident at the Daegu branch of the Joseon Bank.
In 1927, Jang learned bomb-making techniques from bomb expert Horikiri Musaburo and personally made bombs which he delivered to the Daegu branch of the Joseon Bank, injuring five people including bank employees and police officers with serious wounds. He later committed suicide in Daegu Prison on July 31, 1930, one day before his scheduled execution, becoming a martyr.
