‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ Holds Communication Meetings with Parents of 24 Elementary, Middle, and High Schools
Supports 2.2 Billion KRW in Educational Expenses to Improve Educational Conditions at 22 Schools through Listening to School Issues
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) operated the ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ program targeting 24 schools in the district, providing an opportunity to communicate with parents and school officials.
The ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ program is a platform where the district mayor personally visits local schools to hear diverse and vivid voices from the field, seeking solutions to regional issues and problems. This initiative has been ongoing for three years since 2021.
Starting with Munyeong Girls' High School on May 25, Mayor Park visited a total of 24 schools (6 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 11 high schools) until July 17, meeting with over 370 parents to listen to a wide range of opinions and suggestions aimed at improving educational conditions and fostering student development.
As a result, Mayor Park, together with relevant departments, addressed a total of 153 suggestions. After review and approval by the Educational Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee, 22 projects aimed at improving educational conditions were supported with a total of 2.2 billion KRW in educational expenses.
Key educational expense support included ▲library relocation and environment improvement ▲club room environment improvement ▲outdoor learning space environment improvement ▲replacement of the back gate and maintenance of surrounding school routes ▲replacement of steam pipes in the cafeteria ▲improvements to special classrooms and English-only classrooms ▲maintenance of hazardous trees on campus ▲installation of insect screens ▲improvement of autonomous study spaces and replacement of chairs.
Additionally, the district resolved various other issues such as traffic signal improvements, crackdown on illegal dumping, installation of CCTV signboards along school routes, installation of safety fences, strengthening parking enforcement on school routes, removal of obstructive street trees, reinstallation of convex mirrors, and replacement of streetlights along school routes.
The district plans to continue actively reflecting the needs and demands of residents and spare no effort in supporting the creation of a high-quality educational environment.
Meanwhile, with positive responses from parents to the ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ program, the district has handled 365 suggestions and daily complaints from a total of 49 schools (16 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, and 15 high schools) up to last year, supporting educational expenses totaling 4.2 billion KRW.
