Gwangju Seo-gu 'Public Officials Idea Conference' Successfully Concluded

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 28th that it held the 2023 Public Officials Idea Conference on the 2nd floor of the Deulbol Hall at Seo-gu Office on the 27th.

Seo-gu promotes an annual idea contest for Seo-gu Office public officials to discover policy ideas and foster a culture of proposal submission.

Especially this year, unlike last year, topics requiring employees' ideas were selected from the 8th term of the elected mayor's pledge projects or departments, and additional points were given for designated topics and proposals adopted by the relevant departments to ensure that ideas that can be practically reflected in district policies are selected.

From May 12th over 34 days, a total of 86 ideas were submitted, and through online voting (Seogu Toktok, People’s Petition) and preliminary screening by the Proposal Review Working Committee, six excellent proposals advanced to the final round.

The six excellent proposals presented at the conference were ▲ Protect Seo-gu with fire-resistant paint ▲ Operation of grandchild-rearing coaching program ▲ Installation of electric vehicle-exclusive fire extinguishers at electric vehicle charging stations ▲ Creation of safe playground environments ▲ Revamping public services using CCTV and artificial intelligence ▲ Improvement of food waste separation and collection system for detached houses.

At the event, one gold prize, two silver prizes, and three bronze prizes were awarded through professional judging by the Seo-gu Proposal Review Committee and evaluation by an audience panel of 90 public officials recommended by each department. The gold prize winner received 1,000,000 KRW, silver prize winners each received 700,000 KRW, and bronze prize winners each received 500,000 KRW, along with personnel incentives upon policy implementation.

The prestigious gold prize was awarded to Jeong Eui-hyung, a staff member of the Tax Collection Team 2, for the proposal "Protect Seo-gu with fire-resistant paint."

Mayor Kim Yi-gang of Seo-gu said, “I express my gratitude for the passion and efforts of public officials in discovering ideas despite their busy current tasks,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to expand incentives and spread a creative and proactive proposal culture so that good policies can be discovered.”
