President Yoon's Approval Rating Rises 2%p to 35%
Democratic Party's Approval Rating Declines for 2 Consecutive Weeks
President Yoon Suk-yeol and the ruling party, the People Power Party, saw their approval ratings rise for the second consecutive week. The Democratic Party showed a decline in approval ratings for two weeks in a row.
According to Gallup's regular survey conducted from the 25th to the 27th (a telephone interviewer survey of 1,002 adults aged 18 and over nationwide), President Yoon's approval rating for his administration rose by 2 percentage points from the previous week to 35%. Negative evaluations of his performance also fell by 3 percentage points to 55%.
Regarding President Yoon's job performance
those who gave positive evaluations (356 respondents, open-ended) cited reasons such as "diplomacy" (31%), "decisiveness, drive, and perseverance" (7%), among others. Those who gave negative evaluations (550 respondents, open-ended) mentioned "diplomacy" (16%), "economy, livelihood, and prices" (9%), and "authoritarian and unilateral" (8%) as reasons.
In terms of party support, the ruling party's upward trend was confirmed. The People Power Party's support rose by 2 percentage points from the previous week to 35%, while the Democratic Party's support fell by 1 percentage point to 29%. The proportion of undecided voters decreased by 1 percentage point to 31%.
Looking at regions, the gap in support between the People Power Party and the Democratic Party was not significant in the metropolitan area. In Seoul, the People Power Party had 31% support and the Democratic Party 30%, while in Incheon and Gyeonggi, the People Power Party had 33% and the Democratic Party 29%. In the Chungcheong region, the gap was larger, with the People Power Party receiving 39% support compared to the Democratic Party's 28%. In Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, the People Power Party (42%) also led the Democratic Party (23%).
By political orientation, 66% of conservatives supported the People Power Party, while 58% of progressives supported the Democratic Party. Among moderates, 29% supported the People Power Party, 25% supported the Democratic Party, and 40% were undecided or did not support any particular party.
