National Assembly Ethics Committee Begins Full Review of 'Kim Nam-guk Disciplinary Proposal'
The National Assembly Ethics Special Committee on the 27th began a full review of the disciplinary proposal against Representative Kim Nam-guk, who left the Democratic Party of Korea amid controversy over holding virtual assets.
On the same day, the Ethics Special Committee held a plenary meeting in the afternoon, submitted the disciplinary proposal against Representative Kim, and referred it to the first subcommittee within the special committee. They also requested additional related materials and decided to review them together in the subcommittee. Lee Yang-su, the senior deputy floor leader of the People Power Party, serves as the chairperson.
Earlier, the Ethics Review Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) of the Ethics Special Committee recommended the highest level of discipline, "expulsion from the National Assembly," for Representative Kim. Byun Jae-il, chairperson of the Ethics Special Committee and a member of the Democratic Party, stated, "There were opinions that sufficient materials were not secured during the Advisory Committee's review," adding, "The floor leaders of both parties agreed to request and receive materials and conduct an in-depth review in the subcommittee."
