"EcoPro Drops Nearly 2% on KOSDAQ After 1 Million Won Collapse"
Following the 26th, battery-related stocks plunged en masse again on the 27th, causing the KOSDAQ to fall nearly 2%. The KOSPI also saw declines in battery-related stocks, but semiconductor stocks such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which are among the top by market capitalization, rebounded and closed higher.
The KOSPI closed at 2,603.81, up 11.45 points (0.44%) from the previous trading day.
The index was lifted by the traditional powerhouse, semiconductors. With confirmed semiconductor earnings from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, expectations for a market rebound were reflected. On the other hand, battery stocks continued to plunge following the previous day, putting pressure on the index.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 78.9 billion KRW and 437.4 billion KRW, respectively. Conversely, individuals were net sellers of 505.6 billion KRW.
By sector, pharmaceuticals and medical precision equipment rose 6.17% and 5.68%, respectively. Services and textiles/apparel also increased by 4.10% and 3.87%, respectively. Meanwhile, chemicals and steel & metals fell by 4.47% and 3.82%, respectively. The distribution sector also declined by 2.31%.
By individual stocks, Samsung Electronics, the largest by market capitalization, closed at 71,700 KRW, up 1,900 KRW (2.72%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix rose 9.73%, and Samsung Biologics increased by 8.80%. In contrast, POSCO Future M plunged 13.21%. Battery-related stocks such as LG Energy Solution, POSCO Holdings, LG Chem, and Samsung SDI recorded declines in the 5-10% range.
On the KOSPI, five stocks including Wooshin System and LS Networks hit the daily upper limit, with a total of 731 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 177 stocks fell, and 24 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ also plunged again following the previous day, closing at 883.79, down 16.84 points (1.87%) from the previous trading day. Early in the session, battery-related stock EcoPro Group succeeded in rebounding and rose. However, as prices started to fall, the index also turned downward and declined sharply.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 179.6 billion KRW and 271 billion KRW, respectively. Individuals were net sellers of 422.1 billion KRW.
By sector, semiconductors rose 6.50%, while IT hardware and entertainment culture increased by more than 4%. Financials plunged 16.34%, and general electrical and electronics fell 12.68%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, battery-related stocks also plunged, similar to the KOSPI. EcoPro BM closed at 376,500 KRW, down 78,500 KRW (17.25%) from the previous trading day. EcoPro also dropped 19.79%, falling below 1 million KRW. POSCO DX and L&F fell 19.86% and 9.13%, respectively. On the other hand, HLB and SM rose more than 5%, while Celltrion Healthcare and JYP Ent. increased by more than 2%.

On the KOSDAQ, a total of 1,251 stocks rose without any hitting the daily upper limit. Meanwhile, 291 stocks declined without any hitting the daily lower limit, and 45 stocks remained unchanged.
