Goheung-gun's 'Women's Farmers Farming Condition Improvement Education' Receives Positive Response
Introduction to Women Farmers' Policies, Agricultural Equipment Training, and More
Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) Women Farmers Center (Director Park Sang-gyu) announced that, with the cooperation of the town and township offices and the Nonghyup, it is conducting an on-site "Women Farmers' Farming Condition Improvement Education" targeting about 600 women farmers from over 50 villages.
The education aims to provide guidance on women farmers' policies, improve farming efficiency through practical training on farming convenience equipment, and prevent musculoskeletal disorders. Since June, professional instructors designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs have been visiting villages directly to conduct the training.
The program received great response from women farmers by offering easy-to-understand explanations of projects such as the joint management system for agricultural management entities to expand women farmers' participation and improve quality of life, operation of the Women Farmers Center, support for communal meals during busy farming seasons, support for the Women Farmers and Fishermen Happiness Voucher Card, and farm helper support. It also introduced and allowed hands-on use of farming convenience equipment suitable for women, such as cart-type sprayers, rechargeable brush cutters, and chairs for chili pepper harvesting.
Additionally, women farmers who complete the training can receive credit for agricultural education hours on the Agricultural Education Portal.
A county official stated, "Through this education, we will collect directions for improving women farmers' farming conditions and their difficulties and suggestions, and do our best to discover and support projects that can enhance the rights and welfare of women farmers."
Meanwhile, the Goheung Women Farmers Center has been striving since 2004 to stabilize women farmers' farming activities and promote their participation in agriculture.
