7 Underpasses in Gyeonggi-do to Have 'CCTV and Entry Blockage Facilities' Installed
Gyeonggi Province will install monitoring closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) and entry-blocking facilities in underground passages.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters announced on the 27th that it plans to install 24-hour real-time monitoring CCTV for emergency situations in underground passages managed by the province by September, and entry-blocking facilities for rapid control of the underground passages by the end of the year.
This measure is to prevent accidents like the recent "Osong underground passage flooding accident" in advance.
Among the seven underground passages managed by Gyeonggi Province, four locations?Hwaseong Sukgok, Cheoncheon, Namyangju Dongyeonpyeong, and Yongsin?are targeted for CCTV installation. Three locations?Hwaseong Sukgok, Namyangju Dongyeonpyeong, and Yongsin?are targeted for entry-blocking facility installation.
The CCTV will be thoroughly managed through the Munsusan Tunnel Integrated Management Center, which currently operates a 24-hour surveillance system. The entry-blocking facilities will be operated via remote control linked with the CCTV in case of fire or flooding within the underground passages.
Additionally, Gyeonggi Province reported that an emergency safety inspection conducted from the 17th to the 21st of this month on these seven underground passages showed all major inspection items?including drainage pump operation, flood risk, and structural safety?were "good."
In particular, the three underground passages adjacent to rivers (Hwaseong Sukgok, Cheoncheon, and Paju Beopwon) were found to have a low risk of river water inflow due to river flooding.
