Gwangju City Launches Full-Scale Training for Future Automotive Power Semiconductor Specialists
Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association are taking full-scale steps to train specialized personnel in power semiconductors for future vehicles.
On the 26th, the city announced that the ‘Advanced Industry Joint Training Center’ opening ceremony was held at the Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association, attended by Kim Yong-seung, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Office; Jeong Cheol-dong, Chairman of the Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association; Kim Na-yoon, Chair of the Industry and Construction Committee of the Gwangju City Council; Yang Jeong-yeol, Director of the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office; and Heo Seo-hyeok, Head of the Gwangju Branch of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
The ‘Advanced Industry Joint Training Center’ serves as a hub institution for training specialized personnel in power semiconductors in advanced fields such as semiconductors and biotechnology.
The Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association, which is in charge of this project, will invest 2.77 billion KRW over five years until 2027 to establish a specialized personnel training system in the power semiconductor field for future vehicles and conduct training programs focused on technology-based training for incumbent workers in companies.
In particular, it will operate 10 training courses, including the ‘Process Quality Management for Semiconductor Productivity Improvement’ course, targeting incumbent workers in the semiconductor field, including partner companies such as LG Innotek, DB HiTek, Oisolution, EOEL, and PPI.
Additionally, to enable industrial sites related to advanced industries and local residents to actively respond to changes in the industrial structure, it will provide company-specific training by utilizing excellent infrastructure it possesses.
At the event, Ju Dae-young, Senior Research Fellow of the Korea Semiconductor Display Technology Society, presented on ‘The US-China Hegemony War and Semiconductor Market Outlook’ under the theme of semiconductor industry policy trends and development plans, and Kim Hyung-woo, Center Director of the Korea Electrical Industry Research Institute, presented on ‘SiC Power Semiconductor Technology and Market Status.’
