Sneakers with Apple Logo Provided to Some Employees
Shoes Also Carry the 'Apple Premium'
The global IT company 'Apple' has been found to have sneakers made over 30 years ago selling for about 60 million KRW.
On the 25th (local time), according to the UK BBC and others, a pair of Apple white sneakers was sold at the global auction house Sotheby's for $50,000 (about 63.82 million KRW).
The product name is 'Omega Sports Apple Computer Sneakers,' and these sneakers are prototypes produced as a limited edition in the 1990s. In particular, they were reportedly provided only to some Apple employees, making them highly rare.
Sotheby's described these sneakers as made of white leather material, featuring the early Apple rainbow apple logo embroidered on the top and sides of the shoes, showing noticeable details. They added, "(Consumers) will find them very desirable."
The product is for men, with a size of 285mm (10.5). Although the sneakers are new and unworn, the midsole area has yellowed over time.
BBC stated, "Over time, the value of Apple memorabilia has surged," adding, "Many items are now being sold at high prices by collectors."
BBC also mentioned a recent case where an unopened first-generation iPhone was sold at auction for over 200 million KRW. The US auction company LCG Auction announced on the 16th that an unopened, factory-sealed first-generation iPhone was sold for $190,372.80 (about 241.58 million KRW) at auction.

Apple, which sells electronic devices, once sold clothing products. BBC explained, "There was an Apple collection clothing line in the past that integrated the rainbow Apple logo and the 'Macintosh' (Apple's first personal computer) image," including T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, and hats.
They added, "It was intended to promote the Apple brand and build a sense of community, but it was discontinued after not achieving great success at the time."
