North Korea announced on the 24th that it has invited a Chinese party and government delegation to mark Victory Day on the 27th.

View original imageKorean Central News Agency reported that, upon the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a delegation from the Communist Party and government of the People's Republic of China, led by Comrade Li Hongzhong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, will visit North Korea to participate in the 70th anniversary Victory Day celebration.
The 27th is the day North Korea calls "Victory Day," marking the 70th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement.

North Korea closed its borders in early 2020 due to COVID-19 and suspended freight train operations in August of the same year. Freight train operations resumed in January last year, but human traffic has been allowed only on a limited basis. This is the first time North Korea has invited foreign guests since the border closure.
