"Husband, Heart Condition Emergency Room" Apology Text for Delivery Delay... Residents Raised Surgery Funds
Residents of Ssangyong The Platinum Omokcheon Station
Raise 2.48 Million Won in Collective Donations, Drawing Attention
A heartwarming story has emerged of apartment residents donating money after learning that their delivery courier collapsed during a delivery and was hospitalized.
According to the resident representatives of Ssangyong The Platinum Omokcheon Station in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City, on the 24th, the resident representatives delivered a donation of 2.48 million won collected from 107 residents to delivery courier Jeong Sun-yong (68) on the 22nd.
On the 17th, Jeong collapsed while performing delivery duties in the complex, complaining of breathing difficulties and other pains. With the help of his wife, who was working alongside him, he went to the emergency room. Jeong had felt unwell even before starting work that day but could not postpone his duties due to the delivery of fresh food.
Jeong, who had been suffering from cardiovascular disease, reportedly collapsed due to a blood clot in his blood vessels at the time.
While Jeong was undergoing surgery, his wife sent a message to residents of the five apartment buildings saying, "Hello, this is the delivery courier. Today, my husband came to the emergency room because his heart condition worsened during delivery. He is currently undergoing surgery. Unfortunately, we cannot make deliveries today. We will resume deliveries as soon as he recovers. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Upon hearing this news, the resident representatives initiated a fundraising campaign on the 19th, two days after the accident, to help with hospital expenses. A total of 2.48 million won was raised by 107 residents by the 21st. Although the fundraising was initially scheduled to continue until the 27th, it ended early as the target amount was quickly reached.
On the 22nd, representatives of the resident committee met the couple and delivered the collected funds along with a letter. The letter contained a message of support: "To our residents, the courier is a member of our community whom we cannot overlook. Although it is not a large amount, we hope this contribution will help and express our wishes for the courier’s health."
