An elderly person in their 80s, who is a recipient of basic living security benefits, recently donated about 5 million won to help those affected by the recent monsoon and heavy rains.
According to Gangseo-gu on the 24th, on the 20th, a resident named Kim (85) donated an envelope containing about 100 bills of 50,000 won each to the district office. It is known that this money was saved by Kim over several years by economizing on living allowances and collecting empty bottles.
According to the district, Kim said, "When I see people affected by the heavy rain damage, tears come to my eyes," and "Watching it on TV made my heart ache so much that I couldn't sleep," expressing the wish for the donation to be used to help flood victims affected by the recent heavy rains.
Kim also added that he has collected empty bottles at his home and wants to use the proceeds from selling them to help neighbors.

Gangseo-gu plans to use the donation made by Kim through the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest to support flood damage recovery.
