Jeju Western Fire Station Conducts Fire Drill for Large Hazardous Material Storage Tanks

Jeju Western Fire Station (Chief Ko Jeong-bae) announced on the 24th that it recently conducted a large-scale hazardous materials storage tank explosion fire response drill at Hyundai Oilbank located in Gonae-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju City.

Hazardous materials fires are prone to occur during the summer heatwave season and are characterized by being difficult to extinguish and requiring a long time to control, necessitating appropriate response and suppression tactics.

This drill consisted of understanding the characteristics and risk factors of hazardous materials fires, the initial first response team role and situation communication during hazardous materials fires, and hazardous materials cooling water spray training using special vehicles.

Chief Ko Jeong-bae stated, “We will thoroughly familiarize ourselves with the characteristics and risk factors of hazardous materials fires to repeatedly master more professional and efficient large-scale hazardous materials fire response and suppression tactics.”
