Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader of the People Power Party, paid condolences on the 24th to the victims of the underground overpass disaster at Osong Gungpyeong 2 in Cheongju, Chungbuk, saying, "An accident that should never have happened occurred, and I feel a very heavy responsibility toward the victims."
After offering flowers and incense and observing a moment of silence, Floor Leader Yoon said, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families."
He wrote in the guestbook, "We will create a safer country so that such sacrifices never happen again," and added, "I pray for the repose of the deceased and offer my deepest sympathy to the bereaved families."

Floor Leader Yoon refrained from commenting on Governor Kim Young-hwan of Chungbuk Province’s delayed response. He said, "I understand that the Prime Minister’s Office is conducting a preliminary investigation, and the police are also investigating," adding, "Once the results come out, the party will decide if any action is necessary."
Regarding the possibility of disciplinary action against Governor Kim at the party level, he said, "It is premature to discuss that," and "We will make a judgment after reviewing the investigation results."
Those who attended the condolence visit included Floor Leader Yoon, First Deputy Floor Leader Lee Yang-su, floor spokespersons Jang Dong-hyuk and Jeon Ju-hye, and Chief Secretary to the Floor Leader Jeong Hee-yong.
Also present were People Power Party standing committee chairpersons such as Kim Do-eup, Chair of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee; Park Deok-heum, Chair of the Intelligence Committee; and Kim Tae-ho, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, as well as Governor Kim, Lee Jong-bae, Chair of the Chungbuk Provincial Party Committee, and lawmaker Eom Tae-young.
