Incheon Reports 121 Cases of 'Suspicious International Mail'... 49 Cases Transferred to Police and Military Units
Reports of suspicious international mail deliveries have reached 121 cases in Incheon, with no casualties reported.
According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 23rd, from the 21st until 4 p.m. on the same day, 121 suspicious reports related to international mail were received in Incheon. Among these, 72 were false alarms, and the remaining 49 cases, where the contents of the mail were confirmed, were handed over to the police and military units. So far, no casualties have been reported.
On the previous morning, reports were received from a house in Simgok-dong, Seo-gu, and a commercial building in Gajwa-dong, stating that "a package arrived from Taiwan," prompting the fire authorities to take safety measures. Additionally, an unidentified international package was found in an apartment in Bupyeong-gu and was handed over to the police.
The Incheon Fire Headquarters is increasing emergency personnel in the 119 comprehensive situation room to respond fully amid the ongoing surge in reports. A fire department official stated, "When a report of mail suspected to contain harmful substances is received, we immediately dispatch teams to take safety measures together with the police," and urged, "Please report any suspicious international mail immediately."

Detailed tests found no harmful substances in the package.
The police are also investigating the possibility that this is a 'brushing scam,' where sellers send unsolicited items to manipulate online shopping mall sales records and ratings.

Furthermore, on the 22nd, a report related to international mail was received from a household in Cheonan, Chungnam. An X-ray inspection detected an unidentified gas, and the police are currently investigating.
