With 15 executives of the Jung-gu Disabled Sports Association in attendance, the Secretary-General of the Seoul Disabled Sports Association presented the plaque to the Mayor of Jung-gu. Afterwards, the 2nd board meeting was held to discuss agenda items such as new executive recommendations, establishment of the Secretariat operation regulations (draft), and the budget for the next year.
Previously, Jung-gu formed a preparatory committee for establishing the Disabled Sports Association in July last year to respond to the interest and demand for sports activities for the disabled, and held its inaugural general meeting in February this year. In May, it received official approval from the Seoul Disabled Sports Association, laying the foundation for supporting recreational sports and athletes with disabilities.
In line with the official launch of the Jung-gu Disabled Sports Association, swimming classes for the disabled will be held once a week starting this month at the Hoehyeon Sports Center. Various programs such as basketball and table tennis are also being considered for introduction at local welfare centers and public sports facilities.
Going forward, a variety of recreational sports content will be provided, including programs like Hangung and floorball that can be enjoyed by both disabled and non-disabled individuals. For inquiries about recreational sports programs for the disabled, please contact the Secretariat of the Jung-gu Disabled Sports Association.
People with disabilities receive a 50% discount on public sports facility usage fees. Additionally, disabled individuals aged 19 to 64 who use registered sports facilities under the national disabled sports class voucher program can receive tuition support up to 95,000 KRW per month. Detailed information is available on the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation website.
