Japan and India Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Semiconductor Supply Chain Cooperation
Attracting and Fostering the Semiconductor Industry
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that Japan and India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a semiconductor supply chain partnership.
Yastoshi Nishimura, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, India's Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, agreed on the 20th (local time) in New Delhi, India, to cooperate in establishing a semiconductor supply chain.
Minister Nishimura stated in a local lecture, "Semiconductors are an area where cooperation between Japan and India is essential." He also explained that the two countries will strengthen cooperation in areas such as startups, hydrogen, and ammonia.

India has launched the manufacturing promotion policy "Make in India" to attract and nurture industries including the semiconductor sector. Last month, the U.S. semiconductor company Micron announced it will invest a total of $2.75 billion to build a semiconductor factory in India.
