Prevention of Fires and Safety Accidents at Garak Market and Prompt Response in Case of Disasters
The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (President Moon Young-pyo) and Songpa Fire Station (Chief Jang Man-seok) held a meeting on the 20th to protect the lives and property of distributors by preventing fires and safety accidents at Garak Market and ensuring a prompt response in case of disasters.
Garak Market is a high fire risk area due to aging facilities and the presence of about 4,000 logistics transport equipment such as forklifts. Garak Mall is also densely populated with multi-use facilities, making it a special safety management target for Songpa Fire Station.
The Corporation is conducting safety inspections on aging internal facilities in areas with high electricity usage and fire risk during summer, such as the fruit and vegetable building and the seafood building. They are also focusing all efforts on fire prevention by using thermal imaging cameras and inspecting the safety of logistics transport equipment.

Jang Man-seok, Chief of Songpa Fire Station, stated, “We will establish a close cooperation system, including an emergency contact system to minimize casualties and property damage in case of fires or other disasters. We will actively support fire drills and education for distributors upon the Corporation’s request. Additionally, we will actively support safety accident prevention activities, such as conducting monthly safety inspections at the construction site of Vegetable Building 2, which is undergoing modernization.”

Together with the Corporation and distributors, we will thoroughly inspect facilities and frequently conduct fire education for distributors to enhance their safety awareness, striving to ensure that no fires occur at Garak Market.”
