Yeosu City Operates Jeonnam's First Call Taxi Service for Transportation-Disadvantaged in Island Areas
Improving Residential Conditions and Ensuring Mobility Rights for Transportation-Disadvantaged in Island Areas
In Nam-myeon, Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do's first 'Call Taxi for the Transportation-Disadvantaged' in island areas is now in operation.
According to the city on the 21st, the Nam-myeon Call Taxi for the Transportation-Disadvantaged operates with a total of one vehicle on the Geumo-do~Ando route from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and began service on the 20th.
The 'Call Taxi for the Transportation-Disadvantaged' is a vehicle exclusively for disabled persons, equipped with a ramp at the boarding entrance to allow boarding while seated in a wheelchair. It is intended for severely disabled individuals, pregnant women, and temporary wheelchair users.
Eligible users of the Nam-myeon Call Taxi for the Transportation-Disadvantaged include registered persons and their accompanying family members (up to two people) at the Jeonnam Metropolitan Mobility Support Center, as well as visitors to the Nam-myeon area who meet the usage requirements.
Currently, Yeosu City operates a total of 25 Call Taxis for the Transportation-Disadvantaged, and plans to gradually increase the number to 31 vehicles to ensure the mobility rights of the transportation-disadvantaged.
A Yeosu City official stated, "To improve the living conditions and alleviate inconveniences for transportation-disadvantaged people in island areas, we have operated the first Call Taxi for the Transportation-Disadvantaged in Jeollanam-do. We will carefully monitor the operation to ensure that eligible users can use the service more comfortably and will address any shortcomings to operate it effectively."
