Steroids Found in This Food... MFDS Requests "Sales Suspension and Returns"
On the 21st, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it will suspend sales and recall food products found to contain steroid ingredients.
According to the Ministry, ‘Yonsei Bone Health Chondroitin,’ a sugar-processed product manufactured by the food division of Handok Cosmetics, a food manufacturing and processing company, and sold by Yonsei University Yonsei Life Health, was found to contain stanozolol. This is a type of steroid ingredient that is not allowed for use in food products.
The Ministry reported that 584 kg of the product was produced, and test results showed 1.06 μg/g (0.955 μg/tablet) of the substance detected.
The local district office of Namdong-gu, Incheon, which has jurisdiction over the manufacturer, has suspended sales and initiated a recall of the product. The recall applies to products with a consumption expiration date marked as January 2, 2025.
