Inspection and Discussion on the Discovery of Best Practices in Performance Evaluation

Ulsan City is seeking response strategies ahead of next year's government joint evaluation.

On the 21st at 10 a.m., Ulsan City announced that it will hold the "2024 Government Joint Evaluation Qualitative Evaluation Progress Report Meeting" in the situation room on the 7th floor of the main building.

At the meeting, attended by about 20 people including heads of departments responsible for evaluation indicators, they will check whether each indicator meets the evaluation criteria in preparation for the qualitative evaluation to select excellent cases and seek improvement measures.

The government joint evaluation is a system conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to comprehensively evaluate 17 metropolitan cities and provinces every year with related ministries to ensure efficiency, accountability, and integration of national administration. It is conducted through qualitative and quantitative evaluations. The evaluation will cover 101 indicators from January to April next year.

The qualitative evaluation requires discovering policies that meet Ulsan City's conditions and the demands of local residents, as well as concrete cases that demonstrate excellent performance.

Ulsan City established its own response plan in February and began preparing for the evaluation through consulting with working-level public officials, target management by indicator, and case discovery.

In the second half of the year, Ulsan City plans to hold workshops to strengthen the work capabilities of public officials in Ulsan City and district/county offices, performance checks, and progress report meetings to prepare for the joint evaluation.

Ulsan City achieved good results this year in the local government joint evaluation, ranking first (highest) among special/metropolitan cities in the quantitative evaluation and having six excellent cases selected in the qualitative evaluation. It was selected as an excellent institution in the 2023 government joint evaluation and received a special grant of 911 million KRW from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as an incentive.
