Jeon Seong-su, Seocho District Mayor, “We Will Spare No Support to Establish Yangjaecheon-gil Commercial Area as a Representative Brand of the District”
Seocho-gu (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is hosting the ‘Classics on the Table’ craft exhibition featuring tableware craft brands representing the commercial area at the ‘Salon in Yangjaecheon’ gallery located in Yangjae-dong until August 16.
‘Salon in Yangjaecheon’ is the brand name of the Yangjaecheon-gil commercial area, embodying the meaning of creating a high-end, relaxed, and exotic natural-friendly commercial district filled with residents’ meetings and exchanges, accompanied by classic and jazz music.
Since March, the district office has been exhibiting and selling unique craftworks at the ‘Salon in Yangjaecheon Gallery’ near Yangjaecheon to offer a relaxed local life experience and revitalize the local commercial area. Starting with the ‘Daily Impressions (每日所感)’ exhibition in March featuring lacquer craft artist Park Soo-i and five other artisans, followed by an exhibition in May under the theme ‘Small Extraordinary’ showcasing about 50 pieces including ceramics and accessories, the exhibitions have attracted popularity with sales totaling approximately 28 million KRW.
The third craft exhibition, ‘Classics on the Table,’ presents small tableware, cutlery, wine glasses, and other accessories that can be seen in the exotic brunch cafes and wine restaurants in the alleys of Yangjaecheon-gil, providing ‘the joy of life.’
The exhibition features about 100 craft pieces from seven businesses including ‘Shell on Atlee,’ a tableware brand by a Seocho-gu emerging artist discovered at ‘Yangjaecheon Market,’ ceramic brand ‘Hanyeoyo,’ eco-friendly wine brand ‘Crosby’ from the commercial area, and cutlery and tableware brands ‘Dalper,’ ‘La Roche,’ ‘Sabre,’ and ‘Philibit.’
Throughout the gallery, dishes with mysterious patterns in complementary colors are displayed. On white tablecloths, French-style table settings are exhibited. Additionally, spoon and fork sets reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, boot-shaped glass cups, and uniquely patterned cups attract visitors’ attention.
In one corner of the space, various types of wines are exhibited with sponsorship from shops in the Yangjaecheon-gil commercial area. Visitors can also taste the wines upon request.
To encourage visits to the commercial area and increase sales for small business owners, the district office has been running an ‘O2O (Online to Offline) Promotion’ since August 10, offering discount coupons for takeout orders. By clicking the ‘Yangjaecheon-gil Local Brand’ event banner within the delivery platform Coupang Eats, customers can download coupons to use when ordering takeout. Currently, 12 food and beverage businesses in the Yangjaecheon-gil commercial area are participating.
