Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce Urges National Assembly to Promptly Enact Special Act for Establishing Space Aviation Agency
National Future Growth Engine: Space Aviation Agency
Should Not Become a Target of Political Conflict Between Parties.
The Gyeongsangnam-do Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council sent a petition to the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee on the 19th, urging the prompt enactment of the Special Act on the Establishment of the Space and Aviation Agency.
In the petition, the Gyeongnam Chamber Council stated, "The world is currently engaged in fierce competition among nations to secure future food sources and establish national security. Space development is the core of future national competitiveness and a key element of national security directly linked to the safe lives of citizens." They added, "With the successful launch of Nuriho, our country has become the world's seventh space power, and now is the time for bold investments from both the government and the private sector to open the full-fledged space economy era," explaining the background of the petition.
They continued, "Aerospace is a field that integrates advanced technologies such as machinery, electrical and electronics, IT, and materials, and its ripple effects on our country's industry and economy are immeasurable. The Space and Aviation Agency, which will support this, is the beginning and core of aerospace industry development, so the establishment of the Space and Aviation Agency should not be a subject of political strife or compromise."
Accordingly, they urged the prompt establishment of the legal basis for the Space and Aviation Agency, which is the nation's future growth engine, a cornerstone for leaping to a top-tier country, and a control tower to lead the realization of a global space economy powerhouse.
