Ahn Cheol-soo: "President Yoon Should Have Visited Ukraine After the Monsoon"
SBS 'Kim Taehyun's Political Show' Interview
"There Might Have Been Impatience... Agreed to the Visit Itself"
Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, commented on President Yoon Seok-yeol's visit to Ukraine, saying, "He only attended the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit and then returned. He worked hard to resolve the flood damage issues, and I wonder if it would have been better to visit secretly after the monsoon season ended."
In an interview on the 18th with SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' Ahn said, "Normally, if even one person loses their life, it is reassuring to the public to shorten the schedule and return home to do one's best to resolve the issue."
He added, "Perhaps because of sensitivity to international affairs, there might have been some impatience about not being able to visit Ukraine sooner."
Ahn agreed that President Yoon's visit to war-torn Ukraine was appropriate and even somewhat overdue, saying, "It was the right thing to do, and in fact, it feels a bit late."
Regarding criticism from opposition parties about the visit amid severe flood damage, he emphasized the need to understand the seriousness of the war.
Ahn said, "The Ukraine war could potentially escalate into World War III. It is crucial to show the will of the Western world and the free camp to stop Russia's invasion. Putin might resort to nuclear weapons, and if he does, it would indeed trigger World War III."

He continued, "In Northern Europe, it is said that conducting war during winter is difficult. By around October at the latest, the outline of the war will become clearer, so visiting sooner would align better with national interests. Honestly, I think the urgency for national interests played a part in the decision."
