'Police Lab 2.0' Project... Total Investment of 44.5 Billion Won
Ministry of Science and ICT - National Police Agency Launch New Project
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Police Agency held a kickoff meeting on the 18th for the 2023 new projects of the customized research and development (Police Lab 2.0) program for policing sites at the National Police Agency Cultural Plaza.
This project, jointly promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Police Agency, is investing a total budget of 44.5 billion KRW from 2021 to 2025 to develop technologies that solve policing site issues felt by the public and police officers.
This year, four new research projects will be supported: △a customized non-face-to-face testimony support system for child witnesses △an AI-based automatic footprint and fingerprint search system △an intelligent speed prevention system for children protection zones △a multi-crowd risk prediction and analysis system.
The development project for the customized non-face-to-face testimony support system for child witnesses is based on AI technology. It aims to develop technology that supports personalized investigations by analyzing the child's testimony content and psychological and emotional state in real time. It is expected to create a witness-friendly environment by alleviating the psychological burden children experience in unfamiliar environments such as interrogation rooms and minimizing secondary damage.
