Thread to Support New Features Like DM Soon
Threads, Meta's social networking service (SNS) that surpassed 100 million global subscribers within five days of its launch, will support new features such as direct messaging (DM).
On the 16th (local time), the US Business Insider reported, based on Meta's internal documents, that Threads will soon release a DM feature.
DM is a function that allows SNS users to send one-on-one messages to other users. However, Threads currently lacks a DM feature, so users must leave Threads and use other SNS platforms to send messages to others. As a result, it appears that there has been a flood of feedback from Threads users prioritizing the addition of the DM feature.
Meta also plans to incorporate features such as hashtags and post editing, Threads account deletion, and a feed function based on time zones.
Although Threads surpassed 100 million subscribers within five days of its launch, the growth rate of subscribers and usage time has since slowed. According to Sensor Tower, a global mobile data analytics firm, the daily active users of Threads on the 11th and 12th decreased by about 20% compared to the 8th.
