[Breaking] Over 10 Vehicles Stranded Due to Heavy Rain in Osong Underpass... 1 Fatality Reported
A fatality occurred as a river overflowed in Cheongju, Chungbuk, flooding the Osong-eup underpass.
According to the fire authorities on the 15th, around 10 a.m. that day, about 10 vehicles were stranded as the Gungpyeong 2 underpass in Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju City, was flooded.
The nearby Miho River overflowed, causing the underpass to fill rapidly, trapping many drivers and passengers who could not escape.
There were also casualties. As of 1 p.m., a woman in her 50s was found dead, and eight people were rescued. Currently, the underpass is completely submerged, and the exact number of stranded drivers and passengers is unknown.
