Samsung Electronics President Kyung Kye-hyun Visits US Taylor Again: "Mass Production from 4nm by End of Next Year"

Kyung Kye-hyun, President of Samsung Electronics Device Solutions (DS) Division, reported that the construction of the semiconductor factory being built in Taylor, Texas, USA, aiming for mass production by the end of next year, is progressing smoothly.
On the 14th, President Kyung posted photos of the Taylor factory construction site on Instagram, saying, "The Taylor fab (factory) construction is in full swing," and introduced, "The exterior framework of the first factory has been completed, and interior work has begun."
He added, "By the end of next year, mass production shipments starting from 4nm (nanometers, one billionth of a meter) will begin here," and "Major U.S. customers are looking forward to having their products manufactured here."

View original imageSamsung Electronics plans to produce advanced system semiconductors used in fields such as 5G, high-performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence (AI) at the foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) factory under construction in Taylor. The site covers approximately 5 million square meters (1.5 million pyeong) and is being built with the goal of completion within this year and operation starting in the second half of next year.
President Kyung said, "The AI boom continues," and "Development to enhance value at various stages including chips, packages, systems, and solutions is in full progress." He added, "As a parts supplier, while doing our best to meet customer demands even a little more, it is time to seriously consider what more we need to do in the AI arena for future value creation and acquisition."
