Suncheon Byeolmi-gil Night Market Reopens
From the 14th to October 28th, every Friday and Saturday
The Jeonnam Suncheon City Old Downtown Merchants Association (President Kim Kyunghwan) announced that it will operate the ‘Fantastic Byeolmi-gil Night Market’ every Friday and Saturday from the 14th to October 28th.
The newly reopened ‘Fantastic Byeolmi-gil Night Market’ will be held near the Gopchang Alley of Jungang Market (18 Byeolmi-gil, Suncheon-si) from 6 PM to 10 PM. The menu has been enhanced and prices lowered to reflect visitor demand.
The Byeolmi-gil Night Market attracted about 470 visitors during three trial operations in June.
Restaurants located in the old downtown, including those serving gopchang jeongol (beef tripe hot pot), participated and achieved increased sales.
Additionally, through social networking service (SNS) promotions, it drew the interest of young people, revitalizing the commercial district during nighttime hours when foot traffic had dwindled.
Accordingly, the Old Downtown Merchants Association plans to keep the night market open until October, when the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo concludes, to attract visitors to the old downtown area.
Various events such as prize giveaways (bicycles, Suncheon Love Gift Certificates, etc.) and youth busking performances will also be held for visitors.
Kim Kyunghwan, president of the Old Downtown Merchants Association, said, “With the reopening of this night market, we expect to revitalize the old downtown commercial district that has lost vitality for a long time. We invite many people to visit the old downtown night market event filled with summer night romance and memories.”
