DYPNF, Actively Entering Future Growth Businesses with High Technological Competitiveness
As the government designates the Saemangeum Investment Promotion Zone and begins providing tax support to resident companies, interest in secondary battery equipment companies has increased in the domestic stock market. Kim Kyung-an, the new head of the Saemangeum Development Agency, stated, "The Saemangeum secondary battery specialized complex has passed the 70% mark." With growing expectations that secondary battery equipment investments will continue, anticipation for DYPNF's new business is rising.
DYPNF is the leading domestic company in powder conveying equipment. Powder conveying equipment refers to devices that process raw materials according to process characteristics or manufacture and supply them to meet specifications required for each process. Its main product, pneumatic conveying system (PCS), is a device that transports raw materials using air pressure. It can be applied to all industries when the material is in powder form. Recently, investments in powder conveying equipment have increased in the petrochemical sector, solar energy industry, and environmental and energy fields.
DYPNF has succeeded in domesticating the powder conveying system sector, which previously relied on imports. It competes with leading global companies from Germany, Japan, and other countries. Recently, it signed a supply contract related to the 'Shaheen Project,' the largest-scale project in the domestic petrochemical industry. On the 3rd, through Hyundai Engineering, it secured a pneumatic conveying equipment project worth approximately 36.3 billion KRW. Amid fierce bidding competition from global companies, DYPNF won the project based on its advanced technology and price competitiveness.
The Shaheen Project is a project by Aramco, the parent company of S-Oil and a comprehensive energy and chemical company in Saudi Arabia, to establish a mega petrochemical complex in Ulsan. With an investment exceeding 9 trillion KRW, it is the largest single petrochemical project in Korea.
Since winning the PCS order for Cosmo Advanced Materials' cathode materials in 2020, DYPNF has been expanding its supply to the secondary battery industry. It is actively pursuing orders in precursor factories and waste battery equipment sectors. In May, it signed an additional contract worth 8.7 billion KRW with Cosmo Chemical for the construction of a precursor raw material manufacturing process for secondary batteries. This project involves building a precursor raw material manufacturing process for secondary batteries at Cosmo Chemical's Onsan plant.
A DYPNF representative said, "Based on the technology and reliability accumulated through various projects over the past 30 years, we signed an additional construction contract related to secondary battery raw material production with Cosmo Chemical." He added, "Leveraging the contract with Cosmo Chemical as a stepping stone, we will actively pursue new projects in the eco-friendly sector and strengthen our competitiveness in future growth businesses such as secondary batteries and waste battery recycling in the green market."
With additional orders following Cosmo Group's expanded facility investments, expectations for new orders related to secondary batteries are also increasing. If a secondary battery cluster is formed in Saemangeum, DYPNF could benefit. It is known that DYPNF is negotiating supply volumes for new expansions of secondary battery material suppliers.
The DYPNF representative explained, "Based on PCS, we are recognized for our technology in newly entered markets such as secondary batteries, waste batteries, and waste plastics." He added, "We will rapidly expand our presence not only in the petrochemical industry but also in high-growth new markets."
