Green remodeling is a project aimed at improving the performance of aging buildings through insulation and facility upgrades to reduce heating and cooling costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Among these, green remodeling of public buildings targets daycare centers, health centers, and medical facilities that have been in use for more than 10 years since completion.
This year, the district participated in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “Public Building Green Remodeling Contest” and secured 320 million KRW in national funds and 160 million KRW in city funds. Including district funds, a total project budget of 640 million KRW will be invested to carry out this project.
The targeted daycare centers are Gongdeok Daycare Center (located in Gongdeok-dong), Dohwa Daycare Center (located in Dohwa-dong), Sinsu Daycare Center (located in Sinsu-dong), and World Cup Daycare Center (located in Sangam-dong), totaling four locations.
Out of 85 public daycare centers in the area, 50 centers that have been in operation for more than 10 years applied for participation, and these daycare centers were finally selected.
The district plans to complete the construction by the end of this year, including replacing high-performance HVAC systems, boilers, and windows, as well as reinforcing internal and external insulation at the targeted daycare centers.
In 2021 and 2022, a total of 14 public daycare centers (seven each year) underwent similar work with a total project cost of 673 million KRW, installing high-performance windows and insulation, as well as high-efficiency HVAC systems and boilers.
