Boseong-grown apple mangoes have an average sugar content of 14 Brix and up to 20 Brix, gaining high popularity among consumers.
Boseong-grown apple mangoes are harvested fully ripened on the fruit tree, making their taste and aroma superior to imported mangoes that are harvested unripe and ripened during transportation.
Since 2017, Boseong-gun has actively promoted subtropical crops through the "Promising Subtropical Fruit New Income Crop Discovery Demonstration Project." In 2021, as a consecutive project, the "New Income Subtropical Crop Cultivation Complex Demonstration Project" was implemented, establishing a 1.0ha apple mango complex in Beolgyo-eup, Joseong-myeon, Deukryang-myeon, and Hoecheon-myeon areas.
In particular, this year, Boseong-gun was selected for the "Promising Crop Subtropical Fruit Complex Cultivation Demonstration Project," part of the "Customized Future Strategic Income Crop Cultivation Demonstration Project," a national balanced development special account conversion contest project, and plans to additionally establish a 1.1ha apple mango complex with 4 farms by 2024.
A Boseong-gun official stated, "We will continue to make efforts to expand apple mango cultivation farms and contribute not only to technology transfer but also to increasing farmers' income."
Meanwhile, the total cultivation area of subtropical crops in Boseong-gun is about 12ha, with around 40 farms participating in cultivating various subtropical crops such as apple mango, banana, citrus hybrids, and cherry.
