Park Il-ho, Mayor of Miryang, Launches Intensive Inspection of Highway Construction Sites
Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that Mayor Park Il-ho visited the Bubuk-myeon construction site of the Hamyang~Ulsan Expressway (Changnyeong Miryang Section 6) to conduct an on-site inspection in preparation for the rainy season.
At the expressway site, due to frequent recent rains, acid mine drainage from pyrite has flowed into some nearby farms, causing damage to farmers such as the death of rice snails and a decrease in rice harvest. Mayor Park conducted a focused inspection of the damage situation.

The city has requested water quality tests at various points from Jedaecheon to the Miryang River to assess the impact of the current runoff from the Hamyang~Ulsan Expressway site. Depending on the test results in July, the client, Korea Expressway Corporation (with Kumho Construction as the contractor), will be asked to prepare and implement countermeasures.
