Gyeonggi-do Declares Emergency Level 1 on 13th... Kim Dong-yeon Issues Special Orders for Preemptive Heavy Rain Preparedness
Gyeonggi Province activated Emergency Response Level 1 at 9 a.m. on the 13th as heavy rain was forecast to concentrate in the central region that afternoon.
Earlier, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain advisory for all 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. The province is expected to receive heavy rainfall of 60 to 120mm on the 13th and 80 to 150mm on the 14th, continuing until the 15th.
In response, Governor Kim Dong-yeon sent an urgent official letter to cities and counties that morning, urging them to "conduct pre-inspections of areas at risk of casualties, collapse-prone areas, and roads prone to flooding before the heavy rain begins; control access to riverside walking trails; and thoroughly carry out proactive measures such as inspecting and addressing semi-basement houses in low-lying areas and underground parking lots of apartment complexes."
Following the activation of Emergency Response Level 1 at the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, Gyeonggi Province is monitoring the heavy rain situation and any damage occurring in each city and county. The province plans to adjust the emergency response level according to weather conditions.
