Gyeongnam Investment Agency Achieves Investment Attraction from Greater China Companies
Gyeongsangnam-do, aiming to attract 7 trillion won in investment this year, has launched a campaign targeting Chinese-speaking companies.
The Gyeongnam Investment Agency, affiliated with the Gyeongnam Investment and Economic Promotion Institute, announced on the 13th that it participated as an invited organization in the 'Corporate Cooperation Conference 2023 for the Future' held in Taipei, Taiwan from the 7th to the 8th, where it held an investment attraction briefing (IR).
According to the Gyeongnam Investment Agency, last year, South Korea's investment attraction performance from the Chinese-speaking region totaled 5.2 billion USD, accounting for 17% of the total foreign direct investment (FDI).
Gyeongnam's foreign direct investment performance from the Chinese-speaking region last year was 280 million USD, which is less than 1% of the total FDI of 30.5 billion USD.

Accordingly, the Investment Agency participated in the event to attract foreign direct investment through proactive marketing targeting the Chinese-speaking regions such as Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, which are geographically close and culturally similar.
The briefing was conducted to secure a foothold for investment attraction in the Chinese-speaking region and to promote Gyeongnam's excellent investment environment.
Kim Miran, head of the Overseas Investment Attraction Team, said, "In coordination with KOTRA Taipei Trade Center, with whom we held business consultations locally, we plan to intensify investment attraction from Chinese-speaking companies together with the Asian branch of TCI (The Competitiveness Institute), the organizer of this event, and focus on expanding overseas investment attraction."
She added, "Following up on the investment attraction briefing held by the provincial investment attraction team in Shandong Province, China on May 17, we plan to pursue investment attraction by conducting follow-up consultations with 29 Chinese companies that expressed interest in investing in Gyeongnam, through our own Chinese experts."

In addition, the Investment Agency plans to hold online investment attraction briefings targeting Changchun (長春; Jangchun) and Wuxi (無錫; Museok) cities in China to draw investments from these regions.
