'2023 Genesis Scottish Open' Opening
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 13th that the '2023 Genesis Scottish Open,' one of Europe's most prestigious golf tournaments, will open at the Renaissance Club located in North Berwick, Scotland.
The tournament, held over four days from the 13th to the 16th local time, will feature a total of 156 players affiliated with the DP World Tour, the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA), and the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA).
The Genesis Scottish Open is one of the 'Rolex Series,' the top five tournaments on the DP World Tour. It began in 1972 as the Scottish Open. In 2022, Genesis became the official sponsor, and from last year, the tournament was renamed the 'Genesis Scottish Open.'
This year’s tournament will see the participation of world-class players including Zander Schauffele, the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open champion, as well as Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, Cameron Smith, and Max Homa. Additionally, players active on the PGA Tour such as Im Sung-jae, Kim Joo-hyung, and Lee Kyung-hoon will also compete. Kim Young-soo, who won the 2022 Genesis Championship and the 2022 Genesis Points title, along with Seo Yo-seop and Kim Bi-o, who ranked 2nd and 3rd in the 2022 Genesis Points, will participate as Genesis invited players.
The 2023 Genesis Scottish Open features a total prize fund of 9 million USD (approximately 11.5 billion KRW). The winner will receive 1.62 million USD (approximately 2.1 billion KRW) and, as a prize, a GV70 electric model. Additionally, the player and caddie who record the first hole-in-one on the 17th hole will each be awarded a GV70 electric model and a GV60, respectively.
Genesis will support the smooth operation of the tournament by providing over 160 Genesis vehicles. Furthermore, 12 Genesis vehicles, including the flagship sedan G90, will be displayed throughout the Renaissance Club, where the tournament is held, to captivate visitors.
