2023 ISSF Changwon World Junior Shooting Championships Held in Changwon Special City
First Ever Junior Division Held Domestically
Delegation of Over 800 Athletes from 45 Countries Participated
The 2023 ISSF Changwon World Junior Shooting Championships will be held at the Changwon International Shooting Range in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, for 12 days from the 14th to the 25th.
Hosted by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and jointly organized by the Korea Shooting Federation and the Gyeongnam Shooting Federation, this competition will feature over 800 athletes from 45 countries competing fiercely for medals across 45 events.
The tournament will begin with the official arrival of the athletes on the 14th, followed by two days of equipment inspection and official training. Official competitions will take place from the 16th to the 24th, concluding with the official departure of the athletes on the 25th.
The ISSF World Junior Shooting Championships are held biennially and have been separated from the general category since 2017. This ISSF-certified international shooting competition features top youth athletes aged 21 and under. Notably, this event is significant as it is the first time it is being held in Changwon Special City, South Korea.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “We welcome the athletes visiting our city from around the world to participate in this competition, and we hope they will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed and achieve great results.” He added, “Through the successful hosting of this event, we will transform into a world-class shooting sports mecca.”

Meanwhile, the Changwon International Shooting Range is an urban shooting facility equipped with world-class facilities. Its scientifically designed flow and advanced infrastructure are expected to greatly contribute to enhancing the performance of the athletes participating in the competition.
