"Part of Strengthening the Right to Self-Defense"
On the 12th, under the on-site guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Un, North Korea carried out a test launch of the new solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) Hwasong-18, the North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on the 13th. This is the second time North Korea has test-launched the Hwasong-18 ICBM, following the first test in April.
According to the newspaper, Chairman Kim stated during the on-site guidance, "We will continuously carry out powerful military offensives until the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean puppet forces give up." Regarding the results of this ICBM test launch, it was explained that "the missile ascended to a maximum apogee of 6,648.4 km, flew a distance of 1,001.2 km for 4,491 seconds (74 minutes and 51 seconds), and accurately landed in the target area over the open waters of the East Sea of Korea."
The newspaper emphasized that this test launch is "part of strengthening the right of self-defense to reliably protect our country's safety and regional peace from the calamity of nuclear war and to thoroughly suppress the reckless military provocations of hostile forces."
