This memorandum aims to successfully promote the establishment of a dedicated certification center that develops safety standards and evaluation technologies and conducts certification for hydrogen electric vehicles, which require a high level of safety.
In line with the government's policy to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles, the Authority conducted a feasibility study in 2021 for four cities including Ulsan Metropolitan City and is actively promoting the establishment of the Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Safety Certification Center this year.
The Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Safety Certification Center will be built on approximately 25,000㎡ of land within the Ihwa General Industrial Complex in Buk-gu, Ulsan, with a total investment of 47 billion KRW (18.7 billion KRW from the national government and 28.3 billion KRW from local government). The target completion year is 2026.
The center will be equipped with five types of testing equipment for the development and certification of hydrogen electric vehicles, including fuel cell evaluation equipment and electromagnetic wave testing equipment.
