Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate neighborhood water playgrounds ahead of the peak summer heat.
This initiative aims to allow residents to enjoy water play close to home. Following the opening of five sites on the 1st, six additional sites will open from the 15th.
Last year, the neighborhood water playgrounds saw an average of about 2,500 visitors per day. With the end of COVID-19, a surge in visitors is expected, and the district has made thorough preparations to ensure more fun and safe operations.
The six newly opening neighborhood water playgrounds are: ▲Nowon Water Park (Seoul National University of Science and Technology Comprehensive Stadium), ▲Haebaragi Children’s Park (Hagye 1-dong), ▲Satgatbong Park (Junggye 4-dong), ▲Sanggye Park (Sanggye 8-dong), ▲Galul Park (Sanggye 9-dong), and ▲Biseokgol Park (Wolgye 2-dong).
Adding to the five neighborhood water playgrounds opened since the 1st (Gongneung-dong Park, Hannae Park, Deulgukhwa Children’s Park, Netiul Park, Danggogae Park), a total of 11 sites will be in operation.
Particularly notable is the ‘Nowon Water Park.’ It covers 9,000㎡ of artificial turf at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology stadium and is equipped with outdoor pools (3 sections), a water slide, lazy river, air slides (2 sections), and 10 handle boats. The water slide is 8.5 meters high and 80 meters long, offering thrilling fun. Pools with varying depths are available for infants, children, teenagers, and adults, allowing residents of all ages to enjoy.
For visitors’ rest and convenience, shade tents, pavilions, and parasols are provided, along with changing rooms, showers, a first aid room, and restrooms. The snack bar offers tteokbokki, chicken, ramen, ice cream, beverages, and more to satisfy hunger.
The water park will operate from July 15 to August 15. It will be closed every Monday for water quality and facility maintenance, and also during heavy rain.
Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:50 PM. Each hour includes 50 minutes of operation followed by a 10-minute inspection. From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, the park takes a break for water quality management and visitor safety.
Water play facilities such as outdoor pools and handle boats are free for Nowon-gu residents. Non-residents are charged an admission fee of 2,000 KRW. The 80m water slide, pavilions, tents, and parasols require separate fees. Parking costs 2,000 KRW per 4 hours.
Visitors must wear swim caps or hats when entering the pools, and swimwear is recommended. Children under 7 must be accompanied by a guardian, and those under 140 cm in height are required to wear life jackets. For detailed operating information, please refer to the Nowon-gu Office website.
The district will deploy 20 professionally qualified safety staff at all times to ensure safe operation, strictly enforcing facility and operational rules such as pool depth and usage restriction signs.
Above all, water quality will be monitored every two hours with water quality measurements posted publicly, and a dedicated filtration system will be installed and operated.
Additionally, the district will open the Biseokgol Park water playground in Wolgye-dong for the first time on the 15th. This precedes the scheduled completion of the Choansan Healing Town at the end of July. The playground is equipped with mist tunnels, combined water play structures, water guns, and other facilities popular with children, transforming it into a family-friendly relaxation space.
