Japan Ranked No.1 as the Safest Travel Destination
The country considered the most dangerous to travel to in the world is South Africa, while Japan is ranked as the safest travel destination, according to a recent survey.
Analysis Based on Crime Rates by Country... The 2nd Most Dangerous Travel Destination is the 'United States'
On the 10th (local time), according to the American security company ADT, South Africa scored only 0.81 out of 10 points on the safety scale, making it the most dangerous travel destination in the world. In contrast, Japan received a safety score of 7.51, ranking it as the safest country.
The countries surveyed were selected based on the most visited vacation spots from 2017 to 2019, according to data from the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS). The safety scores were assigned based on the 'Crime Rates by Country' from the World Population Review (WPR), which analyzes robbery and murder rates per 100,000 people.
However, some countries such as Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates were excluded from the survey due to insufficient data, and South Korea was also not included in the list.
The second most dangerous vacation destination in the world was the United States, which received a safety score of 2.17. Sweden (2.28), France (2.40), and Jamaica (2.42) followed.
The difference in safety scores between South Africa, ranked first, and the United States, ranked second, exceeds one point, indicating that South Africa is particularly dangerous for travelers.
In fact, South Africa, with a population of about 60 million, is considered one of the countries with the highest violent crime rates in the world, with tens of thousands of murders annually.
According to statistics released by local police in May, the number of murder victims in South Africa during the first quarter of this year reached 6,289, while the number of sexual assault victims exceeded 10,000 during the same period. In the second quarter, there were 40,550 cases of home invasion robberies.
Additionally, Canada, Morocco, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Australia scored in the 3-point range, placing them among the top 10 most dangerous vacation spots worldwide.
Following Japan as the Safest Travel Destination, Slovakia and Cyprus Rank Next
ADT also announced the world's safest travel destinations.
Following Japan (7.51 points), Slovakia scored 7.46, Cyprus 7.39, Norway 7.25, and Portugal 7.11. Additionally, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, and Austria scored in the 6-point range, placing them among the top 10 safest vacation spots worldwide.
