Jangseong-gun Seizes License Plates of Vehicles with Overdue Fines to Encourage Voluntary Payment
Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it is promoting the 'seizure' of license plates from vehicles with unpaid fines.
The targets are vehicles with unpaid fines of 300,000 won or more and overdue for more than 60 days.
If a vehicle with unpaid fines is found to have not undergone vehicle inspection or not subscribed to compulsory insurance despite multiple text messages and written notices, the county first attaches a notice to encourage voluntary payment.
If payment is not made within 10 days thereafter, the license plate is seized.
So far, the county has issued 34 seizure notices and carried out 4 seizures, successfully collecting a total of 10 million won in unpaid fines.
The seized vehicle's license plate is immediately returned upon payment of the unpaid fines, and payment by card or installment is also possible. For more details, inquiries can be made to the county office's Transportation and Energy Division.
A county official said, "As strong measures against unpaid fines are being enforced, we urge prompt payment if there are any outstanding fines."
